Spangle Banner was composed as part of the composition “Sophia In A Star Car Or The Spangled Banner Advertising A New Way To Travel”. It was premiered in 1975 at Saint Marks on the Bowery Poetry Series in New York City. The composition, see graphic, involves Sesame Street walking letters with an American Flag, amplified dancing vibrators with french ticklers, and flying frisbees. The composition was dedicated to the poet George Quasha and the french ticklers were given to him at the concert as a birthday present.
